Botryomycosis is a rare bacterial skin infection that has large bumps with pus oozing out of it. It usually involves skin. The main cause is due to a particular species of bacterial that results in the formation of eosinophilic granules. The infection is similar to the infection caused by Actinomyces species of bacteria.
Diagnosis:
This will be diagnosed only microscopic inspection and culture of the granules from the affected skin. Only diagnosis can confirm the presence of Botryomycosis. Local examination of the affected area may reveal odular, cystic, granulomatous, indurated, and tender lesions
Causes:
This Botryomycosis is mainly caused by Staphylococcus aureus and sometimes other bacteria like Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Streptococcus spp and Pseudomonas spp might also cause this infection.
Symptoms:
1.Large bumps on the affected region with one or more fluctuant skin lesions
2. Discharging of purulent material.

Treatment:
Botryomycosis treatment will usually involve administration of anti-bacterial solutions like cefadroxyl and clavulanic acid, rifampicin, and linezolid. It also involves surgical removal of the skin lesions. During removal netilmycin, trimethoprim and oral sufomethoxazole might be administered for a prolonged period
